This be a large very old bald cypress. the bald cypress is called that because it is a conifer which loses it's needles in the winter. They are also known for their way of producing young cypress. They shoot up new trees from their roots. When the new tree pops up it's called a cypress knee. Not all knees will grow up into trees though.
